UAE Crescent provides aid to West Coast fishermen

On Tuesday, the UAE Red Crescent provided assistance to fishermen on the west coast.

The aid includes tools and fishing supplies for some 500 fishermen in Mushaj and Al-Nakheela areas of Hodeidah governorate and Wahajja in Taiz province.

Suleiman Nasser, a member of the local council in al-Peacha district, said the UAE has been able to restore life to the fishing sector through infrastructure projects and continued support for fishermen with the tools and supplies they need.

Salem Alian, acting secretary general of the Fisheries Co-operative Union in Hodeidah province, said the fishermen's support initiatives continue to underline the UAE's keenness and seriousness to normalize life in the west coast, which is one of the areas most affected by the war imposed by Houthi militias.

The uae's total of 24 projects in the fisheries sector, serving 34,000 beneficiaries, as well as its direct support to fishermen with tools and supplies, are among the 24 projects implemented by the UAE.

The President of the Moshej Fishermen's Association, Mohammed Mohammed Matar, on behalf of the members of the Association, thanked the Government and people of the United Arab Emirates.

He said the UAE's continued support ensures a stable life for thousands of fishing families along the west coast.
