4 permanent members of the Security Council call for halting the military escalation in Yemen

Four permanent members of the United Nations Security Council called on the Yemeni parties on Sunday to quickly halt the escalation of recent military operations.

The ambassadors of France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States of America to Yemen said in a joint statement issued on Sunday: "We are extremely concerned about the recent escalation of the conflict in Yemen, which has caused the killing of civilians and the displacement of families," warning that this escalation threatens to diminish the progress made on the side of calm and reduce operations  Military.

In the statement, the ambassadors of the four countries urged the leaders of all parties to stop the fighting immediately and take all necessary measures to freeze military activities including stopping the movement of fighters, air strikes, missile attacks and drones.

 The ambassadors of France, Russia, Britain and America announced their full support for the efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, and called on the parties to adhere to the initiatives to stop the escalation and further strengthen those initiatives.

And they said, "After five years of war, the Yemeni people have had enough of it and they will not forgive those who embrace any new setback for the peace process."

 The ambassadors of the four countries concluded by saying: "There is a need for leadership wisdom and continued restraint before it is too late."
