A youth campaign was launched Thursday to rationalize rationalization of drinking water and urge citizens to pay monthly consumption bills to ensure that water continues to reach the homes of Mocha.

The ten-day campaign is implemented by the "Shabab La imprint" team, in partnership with the Water and Local Authority Foundation.

Planning and Finance official Abdullah al-Sarraji called on citizens to pay bills to ensure a continuous flow of drinking water.

He added that the payment of consumption bills will contribute to the search for new sources of water, given the high salinity of the water basin, noting that the local authority is coordinating with other funding organizations to help find alternative sources for the disposal of drinking water salinity.

For his part, Director of the Water Corporation, Abdullah Iskandar, said that the organization suffers from weak financial financing to maintain the network and spare parts and buy fuel.

He explained that the reason for the delay in pumping water today is due to the lack of a sufficient quantity of diesel to operate the pumping generators, stressing that paying citizens for consumption bills allows the water project to continue and survive.

He pointed out that the unit price for the domestic sector is 65 riyals, which are symbolic amounts, compared to the unit prices in other regions.

The employees of the branch of the Water Establishment in Mocha said in previous statements to Newsyemen, that providing the population with water for free has become a very costly matter, as the establishment wants to collect more home consumption bills to allocate them in support of the project as a matter of urgency.

The office believes that the financial support provided by the Arab alliance is limited to purchasing operating fuel and financial incentives for employees, while the management of the water project needs revenue in order to employ it in repairing the network, purchasing spare parts and covering periodic maintenance works, something that will only be achieved by paying the bill for home consumption.

The Mocha Water Corporation obtains consumption bills from the city's restaurants and buffets by an estimated one million and two hundred riyals per month, but those who work on the project believe that this is not enough, compared to a maximum of 7 million riyals before 2015.
