Abyan: Violent clashes in Al-Mahfed and Brotherhood militia send forces towards Zanjubar

On Thursday, tribesmen set up an armed ambush for the Islah party militia, the local branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, in the Al-Muhafid district of Abyan governorate, south of Yemen.

Armed sources stated that the ambush targeted the Brotherhood's military forces, after it had moved from the coastal district of Shuqrah towards the Al-Mahfed district.

 It said that tribal gunmen ambushed those forces, and captured a number of elements, including two military commanders.

 According to the sources, tribal fighters deployed on the outskirts of the Al-Mahfed district, expecting an armed confrontation to erupt as the Brotherhood's militia storms the district.

In the context, the southern resistance clashed with the Brotherhood's militia at the eastern entrance to the Al-Mahfed District in Abyan.

 Sources stated that the resistance targeted the Brotherhood’s movements in the eastern entrance to the Al-Muhafid district, and this resulted in direct hits among the militia.

 While the southern resistance forces attacked the armed groups of the Brotherhood stationed at the site and point of the "Elhaq Al-Tan" junction, and clashes erupted between the two parties, which resulted in the killing of one element and wounding another.




Eyewitnesses reported that the 23-caliber anti-aircraft sounded in the sky of the Arqoub Mountains overlooking the city, and that clashes were expected there.



 Other sources said that the 

Brotherhood's militia sent new forces from the city of Shakra toward the "Qarn Al-Classi" point, which is the line of contact with the southern forces.




 It added that the forces affiliated with the legitimacy applied to be stationed in (Sala) valley near the position of the Southern Forces station in the Sheikh Salem coastal area near the city of Zanjubar.
