Aden, NewsYemen:

France considered the appointment of the new United Nations envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, as a positive sign and an opportunity for peace, re-launching the political process and stopping the war that has been going on for nearly seven years.

French Ambassador to Yemen Jean-Marie Safa said, in a statement published by "Al-Sharq al-Awsat" newspaper, on Tuesday, that Grundberg enjoys the support of France and the international community, to help him find a real settlement that ends the conflict and achieves peace for all Yemenis.

And he added, "I hope that the appointment of the UN envoy will be an opportunity to restart the political process. Yemenis want peace and an end to the war, and the parties should seize this opportunity."

The French ambassador said, "The latest peace initiative for a solution adopted by the United Nations in Yemen is still on the table," noting that Paris will help the new envoy "to reach a positive result that serves the interest of the Yemeni people who have suffered enough."
