Head of the government team: The Houthis blew up the negotiations to open the roadsEnglish - الأحد 05 يونيو 2022 الساعة 07:41 م
The government team in the Amman consultations considered that the Houthi terrorist militia’s announcement of opening roads in Taiz “violated the essence of the ongoing discussions and undermined the efforts of the United Nations to resolve this humanitarian file.”
"We were surprised by the Houthi media's talk about going in a unilateral measure to open an unknown dirt road, in an open attempt to thwart the efforts of the United Nations and circumvent the ongoing consultations," Lieutenant General Abdul Karim Shaiban said in a statement.
He stressed that this step is an attempt by the Houthis to impose their unilateral vision, and it completely violates the essence of the ongoing discussion process, undermines the international efforts to resolve this humanitarian file, and clearly reveals pre-existing intentions to evade the obligations stipulated in the armistice.
Chaiban called on the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to expedite his legal, moral and humanitarian responsibilities in addressing what he described as "outdoor games", and to pressure the Houthis to "stop these farce" and respect the ongoing discussions under the auspices of the United Nations.
The head of the government team also called on the international community to condemn the brutal siege imposed by the Houthi militia on the city of Taiz and to exert serious pressure on it to respect agreements and understandings, and to stop dealing with humanitarian issues in this disgraceful way, and to abide by the terms of the UN armistice that require opening main roads, and facilitating the movement of the movement of civilians and goods, as a human right guaranteed by all international and humanitarian laws and norms.
