Marib, NewsYemen, Private:

The Islah Party (the local arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen) described the appointment decisions issued by the Presidential Leadership Council as a "deliberate exclusion of its cadres," calling on the council to appoint a new governor of Marib from among the party's members.

The party's "Al-Mahariya" channel revealed that prominent leaders of the party in the Ma'rib governorate sent a letter to the Presidential Leadership Council demanding that the Islah Party be granted the position of governor of Marib "as a political entitlement, and that the province be part of the reform's share."

This message came in light of news of the imminent appointment of a new governor of Marib to succeed al-Arada, similar to the appointment of a new governor of Hadramawt to succeed Council member Faraj al-Bahsani, as part of an agreement within the Presidential Council that its members devote themselves to their duties within the Council and give up their positions.

The Brotherhood channel indicated that the Islah leaders in Marib informed the member of the Presidential Leadership Council, the current governor of the province, Major General Sultan Al-Arada, with an official message that includes the nomination of two high-ranking figures in the party to occupy the position of governor.

It added that the leadership of Ma'rib Islah affirmed "its adherence to its right to participate in the political process and its denunciation of what it described as the deliberate exclusion of the party and its cadres from positions and appointments, and ignoring its national sacrifices and its role in resisting the Houthi militia."

The talk of the Islah leaders about the exclusion refers to the recent decisions issued by the Presidential Leadership Council during the past weeks, which included changes in four ministerial portfolios, most notably the Ministry of Defense, the appointment of new governors to the governorates of Hadramawt and Socotra, and the restructuring of judicial institutions and the judiciary.

These changes aroused anger and alarm among Islah activists and media because of its overthrow of elements loyal to the Islah party, who were imposed as a result of the party's dominance of decision-making within the legitimacy institutions during the rule of former President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
