Sana'a, NewsYemen:

Informed sources in Sana'a revealed that the Houthi militia spent 5 billion on activities of sectarian dimensions and connotations, in light of the continued exacerbation of the suffering of citizens, the expansion of poverty and famine, and the increasing manifestations of begging.

Sources working in the local administration sector in the city of Sana'a said that the Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - has calculated the amount of 4 billion and 927 million Yemeni riyals, the cost of what it described as (social infrastructure projects).

Pointing out that the alleged projects include what she calls cultural courses, religious events, and vigils, in addition to what she calls the promotion of faith identity, as slogans for media consumption and looting of public funds.

Since its coup in September 2014, the Houthi militia has continued to starve and systematically impoverish the Yemenis, starting with looting the salaries of employees, stealing relief aid and foodstuffs from the mouths of the hungry, in addition to stealing limited Ramadan aid provided by merchants and businessmen, usually in the month of Ramadan every year.

These absurd expenses come in conjunction with the United Nations announcement that more than 17 million Yemenis need food aid during the current year 2023. The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen (OCHA) said that hunger levels in Yemen are still alarmingly high, pointing out that more of the half of the population, 17 million people need food assistance during the current year
