The Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - stormed, on Wednesday, the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sana'a, and appointed its chief leader, in conjunction with preventing the entry of wheat and domestic gas into its areas of control.

Local sources said that the so-called Houthi leader, Muhammad Mutahar, who was appointed as the Minister of Industry and Trade in the Houthi government, led dozens of gunmen to storm the Chamber of Commerce's headquarters after disagreements with the Chamber's administration and senior merchants regarding the militia's requirements for merchants to import domestic gas from abroad through the port of Hodeidah instead of natural gas. Local production in Marib despite the big difference in cost, as well as importing wheat through the port of Hodeidah instead of Aden.

The sources indicated that the Houthi militia, after storming the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, installed the leader "Ali Al-Hadi" as president of the Chamber of Commerce, and Muhammad Muhammad Salah as his deputy, in violation of the provisions of the law and the constitution.
