The cities of the Hadramawt Valley in the east of the country are experiencing a suffocating crisis in oil derivatives for the eighth consecutive week.

Dozens of vehicles queued in front of government and private stations to fill liters of fuel in a Yemeni governorate that is the richest in oil and is exporting to it.

This comes as most of the stations have closed the fuel counters for weeks until the supply arrives from the Yemeni Oil Company, Hadramout Coast Branch, while others are still continuing to buy and sell at a commercial price of about 680 riyals per liter, other than the government stations where the liter reached 500 riyals with long queues. And meandering in a new dose of derivatives at a large price difference, in addition to the revival of the black market for fuel, which reached twice what the commercial stations sell in the main city tours and the most vital secondary roads for the passage of vehicles.

At a time when citizens are suffering under the weight of economic crises, high liters of fuel have become a major source of high prices for other food and consumer goods, not to mention vegetables and fruits due to their connection to the transportation sector, according to what citizen Salem bin Nabhan said in an interview with NewsYemen, pointing out that the frequent rises The lack of derivatives puts the citizen in a dilemma to search for other alternatives to earn money in order to keep pace with the current collapsing economic situation, calling on the government to reduce prices, oil derivatives and foodstuffs.

Adding, with a sharp tone and tone, in a recent context with the "NewsYemen" correspondent in Seiyun: We are miserable for our children, otherwise for oil derivatives, otherwise for the government.

Great pressure

In turn, Yahya Al-Hawani pointed out that the rise in oil derivatives and foodstuffs causes the citizen to have great pressure, especially in light of the current difficult conditions, so that his life has become very difficult, which will further complicate the situation, especially since the salaries of employees and workers are still the same and are not sufficient for him to buy basic materials, let alone. On the rise in the prices of derivatives, and this will affect him greatly, calling on the government to find quick solutions and end its current neglect and failure, and to work more seriously to curb the insane and continuous rises.

Causes of the crisis

For its part, the Yemeni Oil Company in the Wadi and Desert of Hadramout, represented by its General Director, Abd al-Rahman Belfas, explained the causes of the current crisis, noting during an interview with "NewsYemen", that the causes of the current crisis are the high global price of a barrel and the collapse of the local currency, which led to a decrease in quantities and the reluctance of merchants to buy and sell.

He pointed out that the current amount that covers the local market is about 60 percent of the daily need for fuels, which is a low rate compared to the population density in the cities of the valley.

Whereas, private sources in the Yemeni Oil Company in Hadhramaut Valley revealed to "NewsYemen" that the total quantities that reached Wadi Hadramout from the Sahel Oil Company two months ago amounted to (150 thousand) liters per day of fuel, while before that period about (450) One thousand liters per day at a rate of (250 thousand) liters from the oil company in the coast of Hadramout and (200 thousand) liters from the Petromasila company, indicating that the difference in selling them to the stations of Wadi and Sahel Hadramout reached half what these measures contributed to their reflection on the life of the citizen who became Anvil for fuels, foodstuffs and a low salary.

Suffering continues for the citizen in a governorate that is one of the largest Yemeni governorates producing oil, amid government failure and reluctance to fully play its role, especially with the approaching month of Ramadan and the resentment that will accompany it about successive crises in oil derivatives and foodstuffs.
