The new operation came aiming at imposing large royalties under the motto of al-Zakat.

Sources said to Newsyemen the Houthi militias asked all pharmaceutical companies, under their control, to provide all integrated records of customers, pharmacies, drug stores that buy medicines, quantities sold to them and the amounts they receive for these medicines, in order to determine the due of al-Zakat amounts.

The Houthi militias threatened to withdraw licenses from all pharmaceutical companies for their refusal to provide such information and stop their business under the pretext of evading payment of al-Zakat, according to the sources.

The sources pointed out the Houthi militias aim not only to collect royalties and money on pharmaceutical companies, but also to seek information about customers, distributions, quality and quantities of medicines imported and distributed in the local market.

The armed militias seek to benefit from pharmaceutical companies support that have recently opened as investment for the Houthi militias.
