Houthi militias plant landmines in al-Hodeida airport

The Houthi militias have dug tunnels under the main runway of al-Hodeida airport, making the difficulty of planes to land in the future, a military source said.

The Houthi militias placed large amounts of sand dunes and sand obstacles along the runway, and placed mines and improvised explosive devices, threatening to blow up the entire runway and its surroundings, the source added.

He pointed out the militias have turned the airport into a minefield, as the entire buildings contained explosive devices and mines of various sizes, including internationally prohibited explosivesز

The Joint Resistance impose a fire control on large areas of the airport, while the armed militias stationed in residential buildings overlooking the airport from the north.

The Joint Resistance Engineering was able to dismantle and remove hundreds of mines from the southern parts of the airport earlier, the source said.
