Dozens of African migrants / refugees in Yemen have recently died of acute diarrhea in Lahj province, amid shortages of medicines.

According to rights reports, the migrants died at Ibn Khaldun hospital in Lahj province amid fears of more casualties in the future, especially as the hospital receives dozens of African refugees every day.

The medical staff confirms the hospital's capabilities is not able to accommodate the arriving patients, called on international organizations to extend a helping hand.

"When we first came here, we were in good health, but we are all sick, we want to go back to our country but no one is listening to us," says Mohammed Saeed, an immigrant in Yemen.

"We receive many African migrants in the hospital, who suffered severe diarrhea as they moved from one area to another," said Nabil al-Rabee, a deputy director of Ibn Khaldun Hospital in Lahj province.

He added the influx of a large number of patients led to the reduction of hospital resources, "we call on the concerned authorities to support us so that we could save these patients and provide them with the required health care."
