Training of 25 women in environmental protection in Abyan

The General Authority for Environmental Protection, in Abyan Governorate, South Yemen, organized a training course to activate the role of women in protecting the environment and its natural resources.

The two-day course was held in coordination with the National Commission for Women with the participation of 25 women.

Director General of the General Authority for Environmental Protection in the province of Abyan, Eng. Nasser Al-Sa'edi, explained that the aim of the course is to promote a culture of environmental activities among women sector, pointing out that women are an essential member in society.

He stressed the need to promote the values   and principles of the environment as they are of the utmost importance in maintaining a pollution-free society.

Khulood al-Qadiri, head of the National Committee for Women in Abyan, pointed out the importance of women's role in activating and protecting the environment as a national duty stipulated in the Yemeni constitution in article (35).

Al-Qadeeri stressed the importance of partnership with women and the women's sector as a cornerstone of the development process through the establishment of awareness sessions and environmental programs.
