The UAE has provided AED 367 million (US $ 100 million) in support of the UN Humanitarian Plan for Yemen in 2019, bringing the UAE's four-year aid to more than AED 22 billion (US $ 6 billion).

Reem Al Hashimi, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, signed a memorandum of understanding to support the UN Humanitarian Response Plan for Yemen in 2019.

The memorandum for the United Nations was signed by Mr. Mark Lockock, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Coordinator for Humanitarian and Emergency Relief.

Reem Al Hashimi stressed that this funding is part of the UAE's fulfillment of its pledges to support the UN humanitarian efforts in Yemen to reach the most needy groups, especially women children.

For his part, Lokok praised the generous support provided by the UAE to the UN Humanitarian Response Plan for 2019, pointing out that this contribution provided the lifeline for millions of Yemenis.

The contribution will cover humanitarian sectors based on needs assessments in providing health care to Yemenis, especially the most vulnerable groups of women and children, and reducing cholera by providing mothers and children with clean water to fight malnutrition through WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA.
