The first flight to Al-Rayan airport in Mukalla arrived on Wednesday morning after a four-year hiatus, the Hadramout media office said.

Earlier, the governor of Hadramaut, commander of the second military zone, Major General Faraj Salmeen al-Bahsani, announced the launch of the airport and the resumption of flights, after the opening of external lounges

The governor of Hadramaut praised the UAE's support for the restoration of Al-Rayan International Airport in Mukalla after a hiatus of years caused by al-Qaeda terrorist damage in 2015.

He stressed that the resumption of flights and the opening of foreign lounges at the airport is a happy news for all the people of Hadramout, especially patients who have suffered the trouble of land flights to the cities of Sayun and Aden for more than 4 years.

The governor said that the re-launch of Al-Rayan airport will start with the arrival of the first foreign flight coming from Cairo to follow the flights, which will contribute to the revival of economic and tourism movement.

He expressed his thanks to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia for their continued support for the province and the local authority's tendencies towards development and stability.
