Awlaki: Shabwah's oil revenues are spent on a war effort by the Islah militia

Salem al-Awlaki, a member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, said on Wednesday that "the tribal fighting near the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa province, exposed the lies of the Brotherhood media about the achievements of their authority.


Al-Awlaki made the remarks in response to the armed clashes that erupted between the tribes of Ahmed bin Talib and the Debian family near the city of Ataq in Shabwa province, southeast of Yemen.

The southern leader, in a tweet on his Twitter account, that "the growth of terrorism and tribal infighting and lawlessness is a reality in Shabwa."

"Most of Shabwa's share of oil sales has been spent and is spending a war effort for islah militias."

On Wednesday night, clashes erupted between the tribes of Ahmed bin Talib and the Debian, in the area of “Khamr villages of the Mahdi" against the backdrop of tribal revenge.

Local sources said that one of the members of the (Debian) named Saddam Mohsen Debian, was killed in the city of Mukalla and his cousins was wounded, by tribes from the family of Ahmed bin Talib, in revenge for the killing of one of their sons earlier, noting that this incident caused clashes erupt between the two tribes.

It added that the confrontations between the two parties lasted for hours and used light and medium weapons before they intervened mediation from the tribes of Awlaki and Bani Hilal came to the Khulaifi region to stop the fighting, in light of the abandonment of the authorities of the province.
The tribal mediation was able to stop the clashes between the (Debian and Hamad Bin Talib) and the conclusion of tribal reconciliation for eight days.
