Houthi militia, has kidnapped Hamid Aklan, president of the University of Science and Technology, his deputy and the university’s secretary general.

Students said that the Houthi gunmen stormed the university in the Madabah neighborhood in the center of the capital, Sana'a, and kidnapped Hamid Aqlan, against the background of the university's rejection of a decision by the Ministry of Higher Education, in the Sanaa government, to reduce tuition fees.

They added that the Houthi militia had broken the gates of the university’s president’s office, and had seized official seals.

Students said that Houthi gunmen had again (on Monday) stormed the university and kidnapped its vice president and secretary-general.

Whereas, the Houthi militia appointed a member of the Mutawakkil family, as rector of the university, in place of Hamid Aklan, who was kidnapped on Sunday.

A source in the university said that the Houthi leader held a meeting with the deans of colleges and informed them that he would dismiss any academic at the University, who refused to cooperate with him.
