The United Nations said that more than 5,000 families were displaced by the escalation of fighting in the Nehm district, east of Sanaa, and the governorates of Ma'rib and Al-Jawf.

The report added, it is likely that the actual number of internally displaced persons is much higher, because most people have taken refuge in host communities.

The report indicated that the majority of the displaced live in the city of Marib and the surrounding areas, and live in overcrowded public buildings, in the locations of the displaced, and with the host community.

The report added that there are approximately 700 families in the provinces of Nehm and Bani Hushaish in the Sana'a Governorate.

The report noted that access to the Nehm area remains limited due to security concerns, while the Yemeni Red Crescent Society is collecting more information about displacement within the area, including many families who are said to have taken refuge in caves.

The report said that the fighting continues to affect civilian infrastructure, adding that on February 7, artillery shells struck the Al-Jafra hospital and the Saudi field hospital in the Majzar district in Marib.
