The rise in wheat prices led to the return of Mocha's citizens, especially in rural areas, to buy locally grown grain.

Awad Qanoun, a seller of grains, most of which are grown in Tihama and Wadi Mawza, said that the demand for grains increased during the first half of this year, compared to previous years.

He added that the grain trade was facing a recession due to the citizens' reluctance to buy them, due to the cheap prices of wheat and flour at the time, but today they are strongly accepting to buy them due to the rise in wheat prices to record numbers.

He believes that what contributed to the increase in his grain sales at the beginning of this season, is related to the agricultural season, which begins in August, as farmers buy grain during the cultivation season of land in Wadi Mowza and coastal areas in general.

However, one of the citizens believes that the local crops are the most tastier compared to the imported wheat and white flour varieties, whose price per bag reached about 26 thousand riyals.

The prices of grains grown in the vast fields of Tihama range between forty thousand riyals for a bag of millet weighing 60 kg, and 42 thousand riyals for yellow corn, while the price of a bag of white corn is 50 thousand, and the chicken is 55 thousand, but the highest price is 70,000 riyals for the beni grown in Wadi  Mawza, one of the most famous agricultural valleys in Yemen.

The varieties of grain offered for sale range from millet, western, sesame, sorghum, sorghum, and albini, all of which depend for their cultivation on seasonal rains in the Tihama plain and Wadi Mawza, one of the most famous agricultural valleys in Yemen.
