On August 10, the United States Agency for International Development announced the provision of additional humanitarian assistance worth approximately $165 million to those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

This funding will provide life-saving aid to Yemenis still facing a humanitarian crisis after nearly seven years of war that has left 20 million people struggling to survive without basic necessities, including more than two million children suffering from  Fatal malnutrition.

It added, "This assistance will allow the United Nations World Food Program to continue providing emergency food assistance, reaching more than 11 million people each month with food provided by the American people, including communities affected by the Corona pandemic."

The US agency indicated that the aid provided by the international community has so far prevented people from sliding into famine, stressing that the recent escalation of violence in Marib will lead to an increase in humanitarian needs due to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people.

The agency said that the United States is the largest single donor of humanitarian aid in Yemen, having provided more than $3.6 billion to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people since the crisis began six years ago.
