Diplomatic sources said that the council will hold an open session to hear the briefings, followed by a closed consultation session between council members.

It said that the members will discuss the problem of the continued stalemate in the ceasefire talks between the Yemeni government and the Houthi group, ways to provide humanitarian aid to Yemenis, and the economic crisis the country is going through.

The Security Council will discuss the environmental threat posed by the dilapidated oil tanker "Safer" anchored off the coast of Hodeidah, western Yemen, on the Red Sea.
