Aden, NewsYemen:

Political activist Abd Rabbo al-Awlaqi considered that what prevents the Houthi militia from entering the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa governorate, is his interest in the battles in Marib governorate.

Al-Awlaqi said, in a post on his Facebook, that what prevents the Houthi militias from entering Ataq is not military forces, but rather many reasons, including the militias’ focus on continuing pressure on the city of Marib to bring it down.

He indicated that the militias are seeking to ensure a safe supply line to Marib through Al-Qandha`a and Bayhan, and this is what was achieved by their control of Baihan, and that is why they see that their plan is going as it should, especially with the procrastination of Islah and its forces in Shabwa, according to his publication.

He explained that Al-Houthi does not want to open a front because he realizes that opening any new front now towards Ataq and the rest of Shabwa will contribute to the unification and solidarity of the transitional and legitimacy, and believes that this does not serve him in Shabwa, Abyan and all the governorates of the south, especially before the control of Marib.

The activist Al-Awlaqi pointed out that, with the increase in the regional and international political movement to stop the war in Yemen, the militias are dealing in terms of improving their negotiating position, so they view the escalation in the rest of Shabwa as a political card, just as they had a political card by controlling Baihan and opening a front on Juba.

He concluded by saying that these are the most prominent reasons, but whoever believes that the reason is the presence of an anti-Houthi front, he should know that this front has not dared direct a single missile towards the Houthis since they took control of Bayhan, fearing that they would make him angry and force him to advance.
