Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

The Houthi militia has intensified contacts with tribal figures from the Marib governorate, who are loyal to the Islah Party, the local branch of the Brotherhood.

Political sources said that Houthi leaders are in contact with tribal leaders loyal to the Brotherhood in Marib, some of them inside the province and others outside Yemen.

It explained that the militia is working on understandings with Brotherhood leaders to support what it calls the "Marib Initiative", which the Houthis handed over to the Omani delegation that visited Sanaa last June.

While the sources said that the military leader of the Houthis, called "Abu Ali Al-Hakim", said during a meeting last week with tribal sheikhs from the governorates of Sanaa, Al-Mahwit and Raymah, that there is communication and coordination between his group and the sheikhs and Brotherhood leaders in Marib, some of whom are in the governorate and some are outside Yemen.

The Houthi leader added that his group wants them to play the mediating role between it and the governor of Marib, Sultan al-Arada, to reach understandings with the Islah party regarding the sharing of the Marib administration, oil and gas revenues, and the Ma'rib power station.

According to the sources, Al-Hakim talked about the flexibility of some Brotherhood leaders, who said that they agree with them (with the Houthis) on the possibility of understanding about Marib, Taiz and some areas of the West Coast at the same time.

This coincides with misleading media campaigns launched by the Brotherhood against the joint forces on the West Coast, especially the National Resistance Forces, and its commander, Brigadier General Tariq Muhammad Abdullah Saleh.
