Aden, NewsYemen:

On Wednesday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the extension of the armistice in Yemen, stressing the importance of the Houthi militia's commitment to the terms of the armistice and the speedy opening of humanitarian crossings in Taiz.

In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom appreciated the efforts of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, in promoting adherence to the UN-sponsored armistice, in line with the Saudi initiative announced in March 2021 to end the crisis in Yemen and reach a comprehensive political solution.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry stressed Riyadh's firm position and support for everything that guarantees the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen, and achieves the aspirations of the Yemeni people.

It stressed that the truce aims primarily to reach a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen, and to start the political process between the Yemeni government and the Houthis.  It also stresses the importance of the Houthis' commitment to the provisions of the current armistice and the speedy opening of the crossings in Taiz to alleviate human suffering in Taiz, and depositing revenues in the Central Bank of Yemen to pay the salaries of civilians.
