The governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, survived an assassination attempt carried out by the Houthi militia - Iran's arm in Yemen, after a number of shells were fired on the highway linking Mocha with the liberated city of Taiz.

Military sources told (December 2 Agency): that the Houthi militia launched a bombardment on Saturday morning on the main road linking Mocha and the city of Taiz, known as Al-Kadha Road, explaining that the governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, miraculously survived after a shell fell on his car and caught fire.

The sources indicated that the attack on the governor's convoy did not result in any deaths or injuries, and that the governor and those with him returned safely to Mocha.

According to the sources, military forces affiliated with the Al-Barah axis managed to rescue the governor, get him out of the car, and secure his return and his companions to the city of Mocha.

According to the sources, Governor Shamsan was returning to the city of Taiz after participating in the meeting chaired by a member of the Presidential Leadership Council - the leader of the National Resistance and the head of its political bureau, Brigadier General Tariq Saleh, in the presence of the Minister of Defense, the delegation of the Arab coalition and various military leaders.

The sources denied the validity of the information about targeting the convoy of the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff and military leaders of the Arab coalition.

The sources explained to "NewsYemen": The Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Daari, and the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sagheer bin Aziz, were on a visit to Mayon Island near Bab al-Mandab, and after their inspection visit ended, they returned to the capital, Aden.

In turn, the Yemeni government condemned, through the Minister of Information, "Muammar Al-Eryani", the attempt by the terrorist Houthi militia affiliated with Iran, to attempt to assassinate the governor of Taiz Governorate, Nabil Shamsan, by targeting his convoy in the Al-Kadha area.

The statement said that the bombing was from an Iranian-made drone.

It affirmed that "the targeting of the Houthi militia, the head of the "civilian" executive authority in Taiz Governorate, is a treacherous and cowardly terrorist act, which proves the criminal nature of this militia, which does not respect the sanctity of the blessed month of Ramadan, nor the blood of people, as well as its aggressive, vengeful nature against the Yemeni people, and its relentless pursuit  damage to his security and peace.”

He pointed out that the sinful targeting comes in light of the continuous escalation carried out by the terrorist Houthi militia on more than one level, confirming its insistence on torpedoing the efforts to calm the situation, restoring the armistice, and blowing up the situation again, as it realizes that it is the only beneficiary from the continuation of the war and investing in it, and the only one affected by the establishment of peace.

And he continued: The international community, the United Nations, the permanent members of the Security Council and the Special Envoy for Yemen, calling for leaving the box of silence in the face of this dangerous and continuous escalation, issuing a clear and explicit condemnation of this terrorist act, putting real pressure on the Houthi militia, and starting to include it and its leaders in international terrorist lists.
