Local sources reported that the Minister of State, Governor of the capital, Aden, Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, directed, during a government meeting today, to stop the supply of revenues from the revenue sectors in Aden to the Central Bank of Yemen.
The sources stated that the revenues that will be stopped from being supplied are: customs, taxes, port and other local fees.
Minister Lamlas' decision came in the wake of disagreements with Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik, against the background of the latter's failure and his disavowal of responsibility for providing fuel for power plants in the capital, Aden, which is witnessing a significant rise in temperature, accompanied by frequent power outages of up to four hours compared to two hours of operation.
Lamlas’ decision, which has not yet been officially announced, has received wide popular support, as activists on social media launched the hashtag “#Southern_Support_for_Lamlas’ decision”, in which they affirmed their support for this decision, which comes after the government’s renunciation of its responsibilities and the involvement of its president, Maeen Abdel-Malek, in corruption deals and obstruction of the performance of state institutions and the practice of The policy of torture and starvation for the people of the capital, Aden.
Activists considered Minister Lamlas' decision to be a practical translation of the statements of a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Abdul Rahman Abu Zaraa al-Mahrami, in which he criticized the performance and work of the head of the equal government, Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik, and confirmed that he works without a sense of patriotism, and speaks a lot of little production.
Al-Mahrami said, "With regard to the prime minister, Dr. Maeen Abdulmlik, if he was serious about implementing what is asked of him, the situation would be much better. There are things that can be done and are available, but he did not do them, as if he is not responsible for the situation, and we do not feel that he wants to achieve any achievement, even at the level of possible things required from him.
The activists described Al-Mahrami's statement as the strongest statement by a state official against corruption and the corrupt, while calling on the Presidential Leadership Council to quickly dismiss Moeen Abdulmalik and prosecute him for his corruption, which exacerbated the suffering of the residents of the capital, Aden, and the liberated southern governorates.
