Aden, NewsYemen:

On Saturday, the terrorist Houthi militia announced its implicit rejection of the extension of the UN truce in Yemen, which expires on August 2.

And its revolutionary council in Sana'a said that "the armistice represented a shocking and disappointing experience, and it cannot be repeated in the future," referring to their rejection of any third extension of it.

The Iranian-backed Houthi militias expressed their anger at the statements of US President Joe Biden, who announced during his visit to Saudi Arabia an agreement to deepen and extend the cessation of the UN armistice, claiming that it affects the sovereignty, security and stability of Yemen.

The Houthi militia's statements come in conjunction with the approaching end of the UN armistice that was extended on June 2 for two additional months, and the militias' refusal to implement their obligations, namely lifting the siege on Taiz and opening roads and crossings between the governorates.

Earlier on Saturday, the United States and Saudi Arabia stressed the importance of pressuring the Houthis to return to peace talks, and working to transform the armistice in Yemen into a permanent peace agreement that ends the eight-year conflict.

A joint statement after an official meeting between the leadership of the two countries in the Saudi city of Jeddah said that the two sides affirmed their "steadfast support for the truce in Yemen mediated by the United Nations, and stressed the importance of its continuation and progress to turn it into a lasting peace agreement."

On Friday, US President Joe Biden announced the approval of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which leads a military coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen, to extend the UN-sponsored truce in Yemen.

Biden said, in a speech after a session of talks with the Saudi king and his crown prince, that "Saudi Arabia contributed to the stabilization and support of the armistice" sponsored by the United Nations in Yemen, adding: "I agreed with the Saudi leadership to deepen and extend the armistice."
