"Balhaf facility.. Emirati disruption of the most important economic project." With this title, the Brotherhood's Belqis channel was a year ago participating in an organized campaign led by the group against the presence of the Arab coalition forces in Shabwa governorate, before its position changed completely in less than a year.
The campaign of the Brotherhood in the name of Balhaf was launched after it took control of the governorate in August of 2019, and was led by the former governor of Shabwa, Muhammad bin Adyo, targeting the presence of the coalition forces in the Balhaf facility for the export of gas, and it reached its climax in August of last year when the Special Security Forces led by the rebel / Abed Rabbo Laakab besieged The facility to demand the removal of coalition forces.
The Brotherhood took advantage of the deteriorating economic conditions and the collapse of the local currency to incite against the presence of the coalition forces in the facility by talking about the need to resume gas exports to solve the local currency crisis by exaggeratingly exaggerating the volume of project revenues.
The Brotherhood, through its media and activists, continued to accuse the coalition, specifically the UAE, of being behind the disruption of the Balhaf facility and preventing the resumption of gas exports, despite the absence of any official statement from the government confirming this.
While statements were issued by the Prime Minister, he indicated that there are negotiations with the French company Total to resume the export of gas from Balhaf, which confirms that the problem lies with the French company, which owns the largest share of the YLNG company that runs the project.
This was confirmed by the governor of Shabwa, Awad Al-Awlaki, in a press interview with "Arm News" last June, in which he said that the government and the coalition are constantly demanding the resumption of gas exports from Balhaf, revealing that the YLNG company presented two conditions for that, namely "the security aspect, and not to exploit gas resources." to finance any military action.
The governor indicated that "this was approved by the Yemeni government, and promised that the financial revenues will be spent as salaries for civilians in the governorates of the Republic of Yemen - without exception - as well as to support food security, oil derivatives, electric power, public health, and development and sustainable projects in general."
The governor’s statements carried clear indications that there was progress in negotiations between the government and the French side to resume the export of gas from Balhaf, amid news and media reports confirming this. However, this was met with a Brotherhood campaign that strongly attacks any talk of resuming the export of gas from the facility.
This was embodied in the lengthy report published by "Bilqis" channel on Sunday, entitled "The resumption of gas exports... Yemen's wealth is in the crosshairs of foreign plunder," in which it strongly attacked the coalition countries, specifically the UAE, accusing it of looting Yemen's wealth in collusion with France.
The extent of the Brotherhood’s contradiction was considered by activists and politicians to reveal the extent of the lies that the group practices under national banners to achieve its own goals, and this is evidenced by its refusal today to operate the Balhaf facility after 3 years of trading in this once its authority fell in Shabwa governorate.
