Coalition: Houthi militias plant Iranian mines in the Red Sea

The spokesman of the Arab Coalition in Yemen Col. Turki al-Maliki said on Monday that the Houthi militias - the Iran's arm in Yemen - continue violating the international humanitarian law.

The armed militias continue planting indiscriminately landmines in the Bab al-Mandab strait south of the Red Sea, threatening the safety of the international navigation in this important corridor, the Col. al-Maliki added.

Al-Maliki said in a news conference in Riyadh on Monday, the Houthi naval mines are similar to the Iranian mines of an Echo, Sada, type.

He said that the Iranian ship "Safiz" stopped for years south of the Red Sea negatively affected the activity of Yemeni fishermen, recalling that the Coalition last week receive a help call from the ship to evacuate one of the sailors on the Iranian ship.

Al-Maliki revealed the Coalition registered 5083 Houthi violations in al-Hodeida province, stressing that the Arab Coalition continues its operations to end the coup and restore Legitimacy to Yemen.

He pointed out that the Coalition is keen to facilitate the arrival of international relief and humanitarian aid via various Yemeni ports.

He said, "47,327 air, land and sea permits were issued" for the arrival of international relief shipments to Yemen.

He said that the Saudi project lifted more than 72,000 mines planted by the Houthi militias randomly, and the militias camouflaged the landmines in roads, farms and residential areas in the provinces and liberated districts.

According to the Coalition spokesman, the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militias fired 226 ballistic missiles at the kingdom, as well as fired 71859 projectiles towards Saudi territory.
