On Monday afternoon, a violent explosion was heard in a rural town east of Mocha, caused by a mine left by the Houthi militia.

According to a resident, the explosion occurred when a bulldozer driver was leveling agricultural land in the Al-Rama area, east of the city of Mocha.

He said, "No one was injured in the explosion, which caused panic among the residents of that rural town, regarding the possibility of their agricultural fields containing mines that had not been removed."

There are still large areas in the Mocha countryside, which people are forbidden to enter, including a famous agricultural valley that turned into a barren desert, due to the mines planted by the Houthi militia, before they were expelled from those areas by the joint forces during their liberation.

The Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - covered large areas with mines in the areas of the western coast, in an attempt to take revenge on the people who announced early their support for the joint forces, as well as preventing those forces from advancing in late 2017 and early 2018.

According to mine expert estimates, the Houthi militia has planted about two million multiple mines in the western coastal districts, some of which are inside homes and in bathrooms, which reveals the militias' criminal nature.

Mines have caused about 1,200 casualties in the West Coast districts, most of them children, over the past years.
