Tribal sources in Marib, east of the capital, Sanaa, said that the militias of the Iranian arm announced a truce with the tribes of Marib until mid-September.

The Houthi group claimed that the truce was in response to the initiative it presented to the Omani delegation regarding the situation in the governorate.

The sources said that the militias threatened to invade the city of Marib if the initiative was rejected, claiming that their elements are stationed at all entrances to the province, and are ready to liberate and purify Marib from terrorism, as they described it.

Tribal sources said that the Houthi talk constituted a provocation to the Ma'rib tribes, which had thwarted all Houthi plans and attacks against their lands since 2015.

The militias had presented an initiative regarding the situation in Marib, after the failure of its elements to invade the city, which have launched continuous attacks since the beginning of this year on the province and from several directions, in a new attempt, including entering the oil province, through the Omani mediator.

The Houthi initiative aims to share the oil and gas resources and development gains in the governorate, foremost of which is the operation of the gas power station, as well as ensuring the movement of its members to and from Marib without being intercepted, in addition to stopping hostilities on both sides, and exchanging prisoners and abductees.

According to observers, the Houthi deadline comes in conjunction with the field militia leaders carrying out large mobilization operations in the framework of the so-called "Great Operation", aimed at launching a large-scale attack on Marib from several axes, coinciding with the group's celebration of the seventh anniversary of their coup against the Yemeni government on September 21  from the year 2014.

It is noteworthy that the Houthi leader, Ali Taiman, who was appointed by the Houthis as governor of Marib, had issued threats in press statements, that "if the initiative does not receive a response, the army and the fighters of the committees are coming to liberate the rest of the Ma'rib governorate," threats that prompted the Ma'rib tribes to adhere to their defensive position.  On their lands, the Houthis continued to incur losses after another on the various fronts of the governorate.
