Iran talks about rapprochement with Saudi Arabia over the Yemen file

An Iranian diplomat confirmed that there is a positive rapprochement between his country and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a number of outstanding issues in the region, including the file of the war in Yemen.

This comes as Hussein Al-Ezzi, appointed deputy foreign minister in the unrecognized Houthi government, hinted at a peace agreement between his group and Saudi Arabia, which is leading a military coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen.

The Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, said in an interview with Al-Alam channel that there is progress and good cooperation between Tehran and Riyadh to address many crises in the region, including the file of the Yemeni crisis, which heralds the imminent resolution of the outstanding differences between the two countries.

Masjedi affirmed the "desire of the two parties to find joint solutions to problems in order to reach satisfactory results, specifically with regard to the war in Yemen, which has entered its seventh year in a row."

The Iranian diplomat said that Iran will continue its negotiations with Saudi Arabia, which are being conducted under Iraqi auspices, noting that the two parties discussed during the previous rounds many files, describing them as positive.
