Aden, NewsYemen:

Yoni Ben-Menachem said that Iran is using its allies in Yemen to launch suicide drone attacks on international shipping routes in the Gulf of Oman and the Red Sea, giving it room for maneuver and denial. He also called for the destruction of the drone production factories known to all, he said.

He added in an article, published by the "Zaman Israel" website and translated by the Sana'a Center for Studies, that there are no secrets in the Middle East, despite Iran's continued denials that it was not involved in the attack on the Mercer Street ship, and the United States decided to reveal new details about the attack.  And how Iran made Yemen a major base for launching drones against the targets of its enemies in the Middle East.

On August 10, Dana Stroul, Deputy Minister of Defense for the Middle East, revealed in a Senate hearing that the Iranian drones that attacked the Mercer Street in the Gulf of Oman, launched from Yemen and said: “This is an attack by an Iranian drone.”  The Iranian armament and the financing of terrorist organizations and militias aim to undermine the stability of the region.  We are working to achieve stability.”

Western intelligence sources said in the wake of the escalation of the Iranian naval war, "Eastern Yemen has become a major source of danger to international navigation in the Gulf of Oman and the Red Sea."  According to these sources, the Houthis or their mercenaries are the ones who launch drones on ships sailing in the Gulf of Oman.

Eastern Yemen has become a major threat to international shipping in the Gulf of Oman and the Red Sea.

Earlier this year, the American newspaper Newsweek reported that Iran had sent combat drones to its Houthi allies, and satellite images indicated the presence of an Iranian Shahd 129 aircraft, also known as “suicide drones.”  The report was based on high-ranking Israeli intelligence sources.

An expert interviewed for this article said that the Iranian drones have a range of about 2,000 kilometers, and they can “hit Israeli, Saudi, or American targets and allow Iran to maneuver and deny.”

Israel and Western countries are concerned about the transfer of drones and technological know-how from Iran to the Houthis in Yemen.

The Houthi rebels officially deny this claim, and claim that they produce the drones themselves, but Western intelligence sources have conclusive evidence that they are Iranian production, and the ships of the US Fifth Fleet in the heart of the sea have seized Iranian boats and ships that tried to smuggle weapons across the sea, including the drones that it dismantled  The Houthis in Yemen.

According to Ben-Menachem, Yemen has become a source of regional danger, and represents a threat to international navigation in the Gulf of Oman, the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a threat that must be addressed urgently.  The locations of some of the airports in Yemen from which the attacking drones are launched are known to Western intelligence agencies, so they must be preempted and attacked before they can be used to launch further attacks.
