Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

Over the past few days, government hospitals in Sana'a have recorded dozens of deaths from diseases similar to the symptoms of the emerging corona virus covid-19, which the Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - has kept quiet about the level of its spread and the size of its victims since it acknowledged the outbreak of the epidemic in Sana'a and its neighboring governorates in April /  April 2020.

Sources working in the health sector in Sana'a revealed to (NewsYemen) that more than 3 deaths were recorded within more than one family during a short period of time, including the brother of a Yemeni doctor and two of her relatives, which suggests the outbreak of the Corona virus pandemic again in Sana'a.

At Sana’a University, sources reported to (NewsYemen) the death of the consultant anesthesiologist at the Faculty of Medicine of Sana’a University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Qadi, as a result of the symptoms of the Corona virus, which has killed nearly 120 Yemeni doctors since the discovery of the first case in April last year.

The Houthi militia, which runs the Ministry of Public Health and Population, ignores United Nations warnings of a third wave of the Corona virus in Yemen, and resorted to concealing the epidemic and downplaying its seriousness, and leaders in the ranks of the group claim in public meetings that the emerging Corona virus is an “American industry”, to prevent Muslims  of performing the Hajj pilgrimage.

Contrary to the instructions of the World Health Organizations regarding the preventive measures followed globally to prevent Covid-19, such as wearing masks and adhering to social distancing, the Houthi militia is risking the lives of citizens in its areas of control by holding rallies and occasional gatherings with sectarian dimensions and connotations in narrow places.

Sectarian mobilization in the shadow of Corona

In this context, the Houthi militia is preparing to hold a mass event on Thursday afternoon, August 19, in Sana'a, on the occasion of Ashura's memory.  global arrogance), and the Houthi militia tests the credibility and loyalty of its beneficiaries by proving their presence in such events.

Historically, the 10th of Muharram, or the day of Ashura, reminds of the Battle of Karbala, also called the Incident of Taff, a battle that took place in the year 61 AH, between forces affiliated with Imam Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib, the fourth of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, and an army affiliated with the Umayyad Caliph Yazid bin Muawiyah bin the Umayyad Caliph  The first is Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan.

According to the (Marefa) cultural website, this battle is considered one of the most controversial battles in Islamic history, and its outcome had political, psychological and ideological effects that are still the subject of controversy, and it had a pivotal role in shaping the nature of the relationship between Sunnis and Shiites throughout history, as the day of the battle became a symbol  By the Shiites, according to their belief, "the revolution of the oppressed against the oppressor."

A third wave and a record daily outcome

This Houthi mobilization coincides with Yemen's recording of 37 new infections with the Corona virus on Tuesday, August 17, in the largest announced outcome during the third wave of the epidemic in the areas under the control of the internationally recognized government.

According to the National Emergency Committee to confront Corona in Aden, the total number of injuries in the regions affiliated with the internationally recognized Yemeni government has increased to 7,347, of whom 1,407 died, while 4,543 cases recovered.  The actual number of casualties in Yemen is believed to be much higher.

At the beginning of August, the United Nations warned of a third wave of the Corona virus in Yemen, with a low percentage of people vaccinated against the virus, and the war that has been going on for more than six and a half years has undermined the health system and made millions of people suffer from starvation and malnutrition.

"Cases of the virus have increased in recent days, with fears that the country will enter a third wave," said Stephane Dujarric, a spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General.
