Marib, NewsYemen, Private:

"The fault of this directorate is that it rejected the Iranian project and sided with its Arab and Islamic nation, freedom and dignity, and was never affiliated with a party or group."

With this phrase, the people of the Abdiya district, south of Marib, sum up the tragic situation, with the siege imposed by the Houthi militia on their areas entering its fourth week, amid letdown by the legitimate leadership, as they said in a statement issued by them.

A betrayal that prompted them to seek help from the leaders of Saudi Arabia and the UAE to urgently intervene to save the wounded, supply fighters and provide relief to 35,000 people. The Houthi militias impose on them the choice of death or surrender.

This appeal came with fading hopes for the possibility of lifting the siege on the district, with the Houthi militias continuing their advance in the neighboring Al-Juba district and approaching the center of the district, despite the attempts of the Murad tribes to confront them, but the density of the human crowds of fighters pushed by the Houthi militias makes it difficult.

The attempts of steadfastness shown by the Murad and Abdiya tribes come after they are the ones taking over the battle against the Houthis, and there is practically no role for the Legitimacy Army, according to tribal sources, who confirm that the coalition’s aviation has become the only factor supporting the tribes in impeding the progress of the Houthi militia.

This was confirmed by the Arab coalition and said that it had carried out 118 air strikes in Abdiya during the past 96 hours, stressing that its air operations over the course of 18 days had stopped the Houthis' intrusion into it.

The scene of betrayal in Abdiya brings to mind the experience of the resistance of the Hajour tribes in Hajjah at the beginning of 2019, which lasted for about two months despite the siege imposed on them by the Houthi militia, but it soon collapsed due to the difference in armament, human density and the lack of supply lines.

The fall of Hajour sparked a wave of anger against the legitimate leadership on that day, after its forces remained in the Haradh - Midi axis, at a distance of 20 km without progressing to support the Hajour tribes, and the matter was repeated with the Al-Hayma tribes in the Taiziyah district, north of Taiz governorate early this year.

The repetition of scenes of betrayal by the leadership of legitimacy and the Brotherhood, which controls its decision, as seen by observers, that it has serious effects that are not limited to the Houthi militia winning the battle on the ground, but rather that it represents a negative message that kills the spirit of resistance among the tribes and society, both in the areas controlled by the Houthi militia,  Or threatened by the threat of militias.

Observers also warn of the repercussions of the failure of the Abdiya resistance, and its exploitation by the Houthi group to try to pressure the Ma'rib tribes and wage a psychological war against them by not seriously resisting the militias and accepting surrender wrapped in slogans "sparing their areas of war" and opening the way for them to the oil and gas fields.
