On the eve of the eighth anniversary of the outbreak of the war, the leader of the Houthi group, Iran's local arm in Yemen, reiterated his phrases that he makes in every annual speech for this anniversary, emphasizing his group's ability to continue fighting the war for years to come.

However, what was new in his speech on the eighth anniversary was his talk about a new war, which has nothing to do with the military war on the fronts against the forces affiliated with the Presidential Command Council or the confrontation with the Arab coalition supporting these forces, but rather an internal war against society in the areas of his group's control.

Where the leader of the group, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, spoke in his speech on Saturday, about what he called "stirring discord at home and targeting the country's security," and considered that "part of the aggression," vowing to say: If this is one of his options, we will deal with it as a state of war.

The stirring of sedition that the leader of the group is talking about, referring to the scene of the angry funeral that took place in the city of Ibb on Friday, for the young Hamdi al-Khawlani, nicknamed "Al-Mukhall", who died under torture at the hands of the Houthi militia, because of his harsh criticism of the group in video clips on social media.

Spontaneously, the funeral turned into an angry demonstration in the streets of the city, chanting that "Houthi is the enemy of God" while tearing down the group's sectarian slogans, in a scene watched by hundreds of thousands of Yemenis on social media through the live broadcast of the funeral or from dozens of video clips that were published for the funeral.

A scene described by observers and observers as the largest of an angry popular movement against the Houthi group in its areas of control for 8 years, which explains the reason behind the group's leader threatening that it will deal with the matter as a "state of war" in his speech on Saturday, and inciting his supporters to "confront the instigators of sedition at home."

Eid, the leader of the Houthi group, and his threats of excessive violence against any internal movement, reflects the scale of terror among the group from the repetition of the scene of popular protests that afflict the Iranian regime from time to time, the latest of which was the protests that erupted in September of last year following the death of a young woman named Mahsa Amini at the hands of  Iranian police.

In contrast to the previous protests, the recent protests that stretched across the map in Iran posed a real threat to the Iranian regime, embodied in the chants of young people and teenagers of death to the symbol of the regime, "Khamenei", and dozens of them dropping what is known as the turban from the heads of clerics in the streets.  This represents a strong message to drop the religious legitimacy on which the system of the Guardianship of the Jurist is based.

The real threat posed by the protests of Iranian youth and adolescents was the confirmation of the failure of the Iranian regime over the past 40 years to domesticate society with its sectarian and sectarian project and its attempts to give it the character of religious holiness, with the failure of all attempts of intimidation and excessive violence of the regime to suppress the desire of Iranian society to restore its civil state.

The repercussions of the protests inside Iran, along with other factors such as the economic collapse, motivated the Iranian regime to try to reduce the list of enemies that it had made for itself during the past decades.  This was evident in the agreement at the beginning of this month to resume diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia under Chinese auspices, in a surprising step for the world and for the regime's arms in the region, including the Houthi group.

A surprising agreement that reflected the size of the internal crisis suffered by the Iranian regime, and its realization of the impossibility of proceeding with its external battles in light of the existence of an internal confrontation with the Iranian people, which is what the Houthi group fears of reaching the same fate, after the funeral scene of "Al-Mukhal" proved its failure, as did the killing of  "Mahsa" is the failure of the Iranian regime that sponsors it.
