Aden, NewsYemen:

The UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, said on Wednesday that he had "frank and constructive" discussions with the Houthi militia in Sana'a about ways to move forward in ending the conflict in the country.

The UN envoy added, in a media briefing at the end of his visit to Sanaa, that any agreement must end the violence in Yemen once and for all.

Grundberg said that the agreement should also include the unhindered opening of the ports, the resumption of the country's oil exports, the opening of the main roads in Taiz and other governorates, in addition to paying the salaries of public sector employees in a "regular and transparent" manner, according to his UN office.

He stressed the necessity of agreeing on "a comprehensive political process in which the Yemenis take over and under the auspices of the United Nations."

Grundberg indicated that he will go to Aden to meet the Yemeni government and listen to its views on the way forward, and he will also discuss this with Saudi and Omani officials.

The international mediator called on the Yemeni parties to take "bold" steps towards ending the conflict, and said: "The time is now more than ever for dialogue and consensus, and for showing political will and serious leadership to achieve peace."
