On Thursday, the capital, Aden, will host an important historical event that the southerners have waited for many years in order to gather their word and unify their goals and orientations regarding the restoration of their state on the borders before its union with the Arab Republic of Yemen on May 22, 1990.
This event is the "Southern National Dialogue", which the Southern Transitional Council actively sought to convene through a series of meetings and consultations that brought it together with various political, social and military components of southern society.
On August 27, 2022, Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, issued a decision regarding the formation of the two teams of the Southern National Dialogue at home, headed by Dr. Saleh Mohsen Al-Hajj, and abroad headed by Ahmed Omar bin Fareed, provided that the two teams are assigned to conduct consultations and dialogues with the southern elites, personalities and components.
This event, tomorrow, Thursday, coincides with the sixth anniversary of the founding of the Southern Transitional Council, which has become the most prominent component on the southern scene and enjoys a broad popular base, striking military force, and an active participant in the Presidential Leadership Council and the parity government.
During the past two days, representatives of the various southern components in the various governorates flocked to Aden to participate in this event and to emphasize the cohesion and cohesion of the southern forces, even if their orientations differed.
Southern politicians and officials unanimously agreed on the importance of holding this dialogue and the importance of everyone's involvement in it. Former Minister of Awqaf and Guidance, Judge Dr. Ahmed Attia, says, "The call for a south-south dialogue is a very respectable idea that must be supported, praised, and everyone should be involved in this dialogue."
The southern politician, Samar Nasser Al-Yafei, said that the southern national dialogue is an important step for comprehensive understanding and unity among southerners, pointing to the need to welcome this event and build on it, especially in light of the current conflict.
She added, in a post on her Twitter account, "It's a good start and it will get better with time. In my opinion, it's time to get rid of old grievances so that we can all get to a better place for those who gave their lives defending the land in the last and previous war."
For his part, a member of the Presidency of the Unified Alliance for the People of Shabwa, and the leader of the Southern Resistance, Sheikh Salem Abu Zaid Al-Khulaifi, stressed the need for all southern sects and components to participate in this dialogue, and said, "Today, whoever has demands for his political current or for his province, please and ask for it to knock on the table in the capital of the Arab south, Aden, in South-South consultations and national dialogue.
He added, "We are partners, not followers. Whoever evades or boycotts the southern national dialogue will be outside the southern national consensus."
As for the political activist Ramzi Al-Shuaibi, he stressed that dialogue represents a sublime civilized value and a manifestation of human progress, and it is the goal that our people in the south await and unanimously agree on from one end to the other, pointing out that the enemies of the south have been betting on not achieving it, and he who wrongly carried it was disappointed.
In the opinion of the journalist, Fatah Al-Mahrami, that this event will be an important station for strengthening the unity of the southern ranks, to agree on a number of issues, most notably a charter of honor that preserves the path of the southern revolution and leads it to complete liberation and building a just federal state, pointing out that this event occupies great importance in that it will bring together Most of the southern spectrum, and does not close the door to those who cannot or apologize, in order to move towards gathering the word of the southerners and their entry into the comprehensive peace process while they are more powerful and solid, which enables them to impose a just solution to their liberation revolution.
In turn, the political and military analyst, Thabet Hussein Saleh, confirmed that all indications confirm that the consultative meeting of the southern national dialogue will be held in Aden, God willing, with an unprecedented southern presence and consensus, pointing out that the 100% consensus was not achieved even during the era of the prophets and messengers.
He added, "As for the excuses of the few who raised the slogan, "This dialogue does not concern us," it brings back to our minds the same position as those who said about the war of defending the south during the Houthi invasion in 2015."
The political activist, Muhammad al-Thabati, also believes that the southern national dialogue is a title for reaping the fruit of success and achieving the goal of restoring the southern state, pointing out that the south today is going through a decisive political stage that comes after a long wait and struggle since 1994 until today, as the people are far away from a plan to achieve the southern dream.
