Al-Zubaidi: Restoring the state of the south is a prerequisite for any future dialogue

The President of the Southern Transitional Council, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, affirmed that democracy and dialogue are the real and ideal way out of any political crisis, explaining that the southern components unanimously agreed that restoring the state of the south is a prerequisite for any future dialogue.

In a televised interview broadcast by the independent Aden Channel, he said that the Southern Transitional Council is a political entity that brings together all the components of the south, and will fulfill all the demands of the people, pointing out that the Council seeks to establish a democratic culture aimed at building a homeland free of terrorism and corruption.

 Al-Zubaidi added that there is a southern consensus on restoring the state despite minor differences, especially with regard to the system and form of the next state, and this will be agreed upon, explaining: The Southern National Charter establishes a starting stage towards a comprehensive peace in the region.

He said: The people of the south and the geography of the land are the only guarantors, and we will not resort to any other country, and the vast majority of the people of the south are the ones who decide on any project, as well as the bonds of brotherhood that are our way to agree between us. He stressed that the State of the South will be keen to form distinguished relations with all neighboring and regional countries, and that it will not attack anyone and will be ready to defend our country from any danger it faces.

He pointed out that the Southern Transitional Council will work to restore the membership of the former state of the south (the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen) in United Nations organizations and international forums, as it was previously before its entry into the Yemeni unity with the north (Yemen Arab Republic) on May 22, 1990.

He pointed out that all that has been achieved in the southern consensus is the result of the accumulated efforts of the Southern Transitional Council on the field, pointing out that the consultative meeting that will be held in Aden on May 4, 2023 will be followed by other stages to achieve the hopes and aspirations of the people of the south, also explaining that the unification of the components is a basic requirement for the people of the south and from The core tasks of the Transitional Council.

He stressed that the consultative meeting will lay the first building blocks for a national project to restore the state of the south, pointing out that the Southern Transitional Council establishes a democratic base and dialogue for all the people of the south.
