Yemen's rank in the Logistics Performance Index, a World Bank measure of the quality and efficiency of trade and transportation infrastructure, dropped to 132 out of 139 in 2023.

The data contained in the "Logistics Performance Index of the World Bank LPI" report indicates that Yemen's position in the logistics performance index has deteriorated significantly in the year 2023, ranking (132) compared to (63) out of 155 countries evaluated in 2012.

The World Bank's Logistics Performance Index is the most important interactive measurement tool to help countries determine their ability to integrate with trade and global markets. It evaluates the performance of logistics services in more than 167 countries every two years starting from 2007, the year the index was launched.

The LPI also serves as a tool for countries to identify the challenges and opportunities they face in their business logistics performance, and what they can do to improve their logistics performance (customs clearance, infrastructure, track and trace, timeliness, international shipments, efficiency and quality logistics).

It also measures the performance of logistics services to identify weaknesses in logistics chains, and provide advice to address them. Performance measurement is useful in assessing the suitability of the business environment in countries and what their potential is in international trade.

Conflict and war have deteriorated road logistics and land transport, and the internal trade route network has undergone a transformation due largely to the closure of some roads and widespread damage to them, while roadblocks and closures have forced civilians to use alternative routes.

Logistics services in transportation are among the most important factors that support and affect economic activities, production movement, accessibility, and access to various materials, goods, and services.
