The Presidential Leadership Council confirmed, on Tuesday, that the Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - is not serious about entering into negotiations to resolve the conflict, let alone searching for peace.

The agency stated that the member of the Presidential Leadership Council listened to a detailed briefing from the UN envoy about the results of his recent meetings and visits at the local and regional levels, and the upcoming plan of the United Nations office to stop the war and establish lasting peace.

Al-Muharrami renewed the keenness and commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to support the efforts of the UN envoy and all regional and international mediators aimed at ending the war, addressing the humanitarian situation and restoring state institutions. In this context, he appreciated the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a mediator to achieve peace.

He said, "We do not feel Houthi's seriousness in searching for peace, or even his willingness to enter into negotiations for a final solution according to the agreed terms of reference, including UN Security Council resolutions."

A member of the Presidential Leadership Council called on the UN envoy to exert more pressure on Iran's arm in order to deal seriously with regional and international efforts to launch a comprehensive and chronic political process led by the United Nations.

While he appreciated the success of the exchange of the abductees, expressing in this regard his aspiration to release all in exchange for all, and stressed that the humanitarian file should not be politicized or exploited for trading to achieve political gains.
