Al-Rayyan International Airport, in the city of Mukalla, the center of Hadramout governorate, is preparing to resume its activities with full readiness in operating international flights to several Arab and foreign destinations during the coming period.

Sources in the Yemeni Ministry of Transport told "NewsYemen" that there is a government direction through the Ministry of Transport to resume international flights through Al-Rayyan International Airport in an integrated manner during the next few period, explaining that the airport will resume flights to and from the airport from several destinations, including Egypt, Jordan, India and the UAE And Saudi Arabia.

The sources indicated that the airport will operate at full readiness after it was equipped, rehabilitated and re-maintained with the generous support of the United Arab Emirates as part of development and service projects witnessed in the city of Mukalla and the cities of the coast of Hadramout after its liberation from the control of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda.

A few days ago, the local authorities in Hadhramaut governorate fully took over the airport, in coordination with the leadership of the Legitimacy Support Coalition, which supported the process of normalizing conditions in Hadramout and restarting the various facilities and service and vital sectors in the governorate.

The Governor of Hadramout Mabkhout, Mubarak bin Madi, confirmed that the handover process took place in the presence of the Director General of the airport and a representative of the General Authority of Aviation and Meteorology, thanking the efforts of the UAE leadership, government and people to stand by our country and the Hadramout governorate in particular, and its support to support security in the governorate.

He pointed out that the reception of the airport's halls and its civilian facilities took place in the context of joint coordination and within the framework of supporting the brothers in the leadership of the Arab Coalition for the efforts to normalize life, after their support for maintaining security after the liberation of the Hadramout coast from Al-Qaeda elements. He also thanked their efforts in rehabilitating the airport, and their permanent positions alongside Governorate.

The governor stated that the rehabilitation of the internal halls and airport parking will be completed, a plan will be drawn up for its development, and additional flights will be approved to relieve citizens, in order to keep pace with the increasing number of travelers and airlines, which will contribute to facilitating the flights of travelers, especially patients, and alleviating their suffering, since Al-Rayyan Airport represents a lifeline for the citizens of Hadramout and the neighboring governorates.

In mid-January 2023, international flights to and from the airport were resumed, with regular flights to and from Jeddah Airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Hadramout Governor Mabkhout bin Madi directed the leadership of Al-Rayyan Airport and the Yemenia office in Mukalla to take the necessary measures to resume international flights to and from the airport, indicating that this achievement has been long-awaited since the airport was announced to be equipped, rehabilitated and operated years ago.
