Houthi militias kill 13 farmers, 2,000 cows in Kilo 10 area in al-Hodeida
English - Tuesday 15 January 2019 الساعة 06:34 pmDr. al-Hassan Taher, the governor of Al-Hodeida, said in a statement to Newsyemen that the Houthi militias targeted shortly before the truce's declaration the cows' farms in Kilo 10 area in al-Hodeida city with mortar shells, killing 13 of farmers and workers and wounding others.
The project of the cows' farms were established before 27 years ago with the support of the United Nations, adding that about 2000 cows were also killed over the ten days of the Houthi militia's target for the farms with mortars.
He explained that the Society Cows project was providing means of living for 14,000 individuals, in addition to about 56,000 others indirectly.
He stressed that the UAE Red Crescent has contributed to rescue the remaining owners and workers having cows' farms in Kilo 10 area, which amounts to 1987 people.
The UAE Red Crescent contributed to saving the rest that are more than 1,000 so as transporting them to safe places and provide them feed and water.
Saeed Al Kaabi, the UAE Humanitarian Operations Director for Yemen, said the rescue operation of the UAE Red Crescent Society consisted of providing sufficient quantities of feed and water for a thousand cows.
The UAE Red Crescent "came in response to the calls of the owners and workers in those farms, to save them from suffering due to the searching for feed for the remaining cows in the project.
