Al-Mocha, Newsyemen, Zeenat Naji:

Five years ago, the elderly Abdo Ali suffers from shortness of breath as a chronic condition, but the summer heat that accompanied the power outages compounded his health.

He has no money to search for other alternatives, as it is not unlike the case of many families on the West Coast.

Because his family has fear for his life, he wishes a close breakthrough for the problem of electricity, which was absent from Mocha at the height of entering the summer season, to avoid the risk of death for those suffering from health problems, especially the elderly.

Fatima, the daughter of that old man, suffers from the same thing, shortness of breath, as the fever makes her pregnancy in the eighth month make her feel choked.

The suffering of Fatima and her father reveals the tragedies endured by patients suffering from incurable diseases, especially those with limited incomes, and whose financial capabilities did not help them to buy electric generators or solar panels.

Abdullah, another citizen of Mocha, suffers from a chronic heart muscle problem that makes him constantly in a state of continuous depression and his pathological complications are constantly increasing and appear as shortness of breath in times of high temperature.

Abdullah told Newsyemen, during a field survey aimed at finding out the suffering of citizens from a blackout, and my medical condition doubles constantly in the summer.

Abdullah directs an appeal to the leader of the National Resistance, Brigadier General Tariq, and the director of the directorate to look at the situation of citizens, especially the elderly and those with chronic diseases, saying that we are elderly people who cannot go out of the homes, nor to withstand the intense heat.

The impact of the blackout is not related to the sick, but to the family’s budget, which is forced to buy ice on a daily basis.

Hajja Salma Muhammad says that she suffers from the costs of buying the ice that her big family consumes in large quantities, which opened another aspect of unexpected expenses.

Salma adds that the solution lies in the return of the power, because not all families of Mocha have the financial ability to buy ice on a daily basis.

The displaced have a similar amount of suffering, especially those who came from cold areas, such as Farah, who were displaced from the city of Dhamar.

She says she feels helpless by her children crying as a result of suffering a rash on their bodies.

Citizens of Mocha hope that the power will return to alleviate their suffering, and they will go to Brigadier Tariq, the local authority, and the Emirates Crescent to work to address the problem of power outages.
