Details of an intelligence operation that shot down a Houthi cell smuggling weapons from Iran to Yemen

The military media of the National Resistance revealed the details of the specific intelligence operation that brought down a Houthi cell operating within the Iranian weapons smuggling network of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and the arrest of its first official and three of its members.

The military media indicated that the process of tracking and controlling the Houthi cell began after the General Intelligence Division of the National Resistance obtained information related to the activities of its members.

He pointed out that the Intelligence Division carried out a monitoring and investigation operation, and obtained accurate information related to the members of the Houthi cell and its activities within the weapons smuggling network of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

He stated that the Coast Guard forces in the Red Sea sector arrested the Houthi cell members on May 7, 2020, based on intelligence information.

He explained that the Coast Guard forces intercepted the boat of the four members of the cell at sea off the "Dhu Bab" Bab al-Mandab strait. They were in possession of passports, Thuraya phones and the "Magellan" locator.

The cell includes four individuals: (Alwan Fateeni Salem Ghayath - the cell's official, Muhammad Abdo Muhammad Junaid - the assistant official of the cell, Abdo Muhammad Salem Bashara - a member of the cell, Utaba Mahmoud Suleiman Halisi - a member of the cell).

According to the military media, the Houthi militia had assigned the cell to Iran, according to a plan that includes passing three boat switching stations and changing routes to the port of Bandar Abbas on a mission for maritime training, and then smuggling a weapon shipment on board a boat.
