Taiz, NewsYemen:

Three civilians, including a child and a woman, were injured after being targeted by a sniper rifle by the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, on Tuesday in Al Shaqab area, east of the Sabr Al Mawadim district in Taiz governorate.

A local source said that snipers from the Houthi militia stationed in Tabat Al-Salheen in the Al Shaqab region targeted a civilian named Abdul-Moati Saeed Ali Ibrahim, 49, in an accident, the second in three years.

The source indicated that the civilian was deliberately targeted by the Houthi militia while he was on his farm in the area, and he was previously hit by a sniper bullet in the same area in February of 2019.

A Houthi sniper shot her arm in a second accident in May of 2017, and a woman at the age of fifty-six years old was hit by shrapnel from a Houthi militia sniper in the same area.  .

The Human Rights, Development and Monitoring Committee documented one hundred and seventy-one sniping incidents committed by the Houthi militia against civilians in Al Shaqab, Taiz, about six years ago.

The committee said, in a statement published yesterday, that the Houthi militia has deployed snipers from it in the eastern hills of the Al Shaqab region and is targeting the population there, indicating an increase in the rate of sniping crimes committed by the militia in the area.
