On Saturday, in the liberated city of Ma’rib, it was announced that a new Brotherhood component would be announced under the name “The Supreme Council for Popular Resistance,” headed by the leader of what was previously known as the Taiz resistance, Hammoud al-Mikhlafi, who is currently moving between Turkish Istanbul and Amman and was absent from the publicity event.
The supreme leadership of this component included five deputies: Abdul Hamid Muhammad Amer for provinces and resistance affairs, Muhammad Ahmed Waraq for humanitarian affairs, Abdul Raqib al-Subaihi for media affairs, Ramzi Mahrous for services and resources affairs, and Shawqi Muhammad al-Sanhani for political affairs and relations, along with 14 members and an advisory committee of five members.
According to the publicity statement, the formation of this component came after seven days of consultation between the Council of Popular Resistance in the governorates of the Republic, which was melted down in the past under the name of the "National Army". Their opposition to the Presidential Leadership Council, due to its limitation of the control of the Islah Party, the local branch of the organization in Yemen, over the decision of political and military legitimacy.
Despite his claim that restoring the state and ending the coup will remain the primary goal of the Council and the major priority it seeks to achieve, the same paragraph carried a threat to the Presidential Leadership Council through its pledge to end what he called security imbalances and political divisions resulting from the coup, in reference to the multiplicity of components in the Leadership Council.
The post, which was published by Saif Al-Hadari, a member of the Advisory Committee, on his Twitter account, reinforces the threat of this component to the Presidential Council, especially since it was directed at specific personalities and not all members of the Council.
Al-Hadari sent, in his post, a message to the Chairman of the Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, and the members of the Council, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, Tariq Saleh and Abdul-Rahman Al-Muharami, as well as the commander of the Nation Shield Forces, in which he said, "You have two options before you, and there is no third to them.. Either unite the ranks and go to fight the Houthi militia.. or fight over each other and the choice is yours.”
The Principles and Obligations section of the publicity statement also carried indirect messages to the southern parties participating in the Presidency Council, in particular the Southern Transitional Council, including the phrase “adherence to the republican system of government and the federal form of the state” as well as “the Supreme Council of Popular Resistance is striving to preserve the independence of Yemen.” and its unity and territorial integrity”, and an affirmation of respect for the three references related to the Yemeni crisis (the Gulf initiative, the outcomes of the national dialogue, UN resolution 2216) and his insistence on implementing them and resorting to them and not bypassing them in any way.
The publicity statement confirms, according to political analysts, that it came to target any efforts to bring together the national forces opposed to the terrorist Houthi militia and Iran's project that it is implementing in Yemen, noting that the Brotherhood's celebration of this council confirms that it came to target the legitimate forces, mix the cards and restore the situation to square one.
The political writer, Abd al-Salam al-Qaisi, considered the formation of this entity abolishing the legitimacy of the Resistance Army, the Presidential Leadership Council, and even the legitimacy of the member of the council - the governor of Ma’rib, Sultan al-Arada, whose city hosted the publicity event, stressing that this component will open a path for greater fragmentation, recruitment and the creation of brigades and camps, and a discrepancy between The work of legitimacy, and represents a blow in the middle.
Politicians do not rule out that the personalities involved in this component are the ones behind the problems in the liberated governorates, especially the southern ones, and the attempts of strife between the components of the Presidential Leadership Council, the latest of which was the tension in the Bab al-Mandab region between the joint forces on the western coast and the Sabiha tribes as a result of Media freight.
