Attempts to contain Al-Sabiha... from the "axis" project in the south to the "region" project in the west
English - Sunday 30 July 2023 الساعة 07:10 pmA few meters away from the world's most important sea straits, dozens of crews carrying hundreds of armed Sabiha tribes flocked to the Bab al-Mandab area, located on the borders of the governorates of Taiz and Lahj, in southern Yemen.
The influx came as a result of rumors and talk about the stationing of forces from the national resistance in the region and a military movement of the joint forces on the western coast to the Ras al-Ara area of the Mudaraba Directorate in Lahj, which was denied by an official source in the joint forces.
The sudden tension of the situation in the Bab al-Mandab region without clear reasons, was preceded by what looked like attempts to stir up the situation in the areas of Al-Sabiha and the return of talk about the “oppressedness” of its people and their marginalization by the various actors on the ground and the exploitation of decisions to change security and military positions in Aden and the western coast, affecting leaders from the sons of morning.
Talks that represented a prelude to launching calls and demands on social media, and were reported by local media, to establish the so-called "Bab al-Mandab region" that includes the areas where the tribes of al-Sabiha are spread, as a solution that addresses the "oppression and marginalization of the people of al-Sabiha," according to the opinion of those behind this call.
These calls were accompanied by the publication of a map of this region with an area of about 17,000 square kilometers, including districts in the governorates of Aden, Lahj, and Taiz, which exceeds the spread and current presence of the Al-Sabiha tribes, according to the responses of some of the people of Al-Sabiha who objected to this map.
Whereas, a number of southern activists saw in the alleged map a clear targeting of the project to restore the southern state on the pre-90 AD borders, by including districts affiliated to Taiz governorate, such as Al-Qabaita, Al-Maqatrah, Al-Waza'ia, Mawza' and Dhubab.
The last three districts are also under the control of the joint forces on the western coast, which means a sign of clashing with them by inciting the Sabiha tribes to seize them and enter into a confrontation with the joint forces, which makes the events that took place in the Bab al-Mandab region, on Saturday, a prelude to that.
Inciting the Sabiha tribes to enter into a confrontation with the joint forces in the West Coast, specifically the National Resistance Forces, led by Brigadier General Tariq Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, under the banner of this alleged region, brings to mind a similar experience that took place in recent years.. an experience represented by the Brotherhood's previous attempt to use Al-Sabiha tribes and inciting them to enter into a confrontation with the forces affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council, through the establishment of the so-called "Tur Al-Baha Military Axis" led by Brigadier General Abu Bakr Al-Jabouli, following the defeat of the military formations loyal to the group in Aden in 2019.
Despite the passage of 4 years since the failure of this Brotherhood attempt, today the attempts of polarization and containment that target the regions and tribes of Al-Sabiha return under a new banner and against a new goal, which reveals the magnitude of the challenge facing the people of this region in thwarting attempts to provoke their emotions and exploit their powers to serve local and regional projects and agenda, not interest. them in it.
