Officials at the Yemeni Embassy in Ankara summoned Turkish police to prevent Yemeni students from carrying out a protest in the embassy yard, denouncing deleting their names from the fiscal allocations list.

Yemen's students in Turkey complain about the embassy's failure to perform its duties towards the students and to drop a number of students' names from the financial dues list.

A media official of the Yemeni Students Union, Mohammed Salah, said in a press statement, "The students gathered in front of the embassy to carry out a sit-in called by the Union earlier, we were surprised by the presence of police cars upon the invitation of the Yemeni Embassy".

The Union in Turkey called for a sit-in at the embassy on Wednesday until their legitimate demands were met, the report said. Some 5,000 Yemeni students are studying at Turkish universities, most of them on their personal expenses.
